Staff Summary
• The Health Department desires to enter into a contract for a water penetration remediation project at the Belvidere Medical Building (2400 Belvidere Road, Waukegan, IL) and demolition of the former TB Clinic building (2415 Dodge Avenue, Waukegan, IL).
• Invitations for bids were extended to 135 contractors and four sealed bids were received.
• Car-Min Construction Co., Inc, of Waukegan, IL submitted the lowest responsible bid in the amount of $506,300.
• Three other bids received ranged from $509,000 to $666,000.
• The Lake County Board of Health approved this action at its March 16, 2011 meeting.

WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 4-102 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, bids were called for by publication for Water Penetration Remediation at the Belvidere Medical Building and Demolition of the adjacent TB Clinic; and
WHEREAS, subsequent to said publication, Invitations to Bid were extended to 135 contractors and sealed bids were received and opened on February 24, 2011 from four (4) contractors; and
WHEREAS, Car-Min Construction Co. Inc., is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder in the amount of $506,300. Three (3) other bids ranged from $509,000 to $666,000.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with Car-Min Construction Co., Inc., Waukegan, IL in the estimated amount of $506,300 for the Water Penetration Remediation at the Belvidere Medical Building & Demolition of the adjacent TB Clinic, charging the costs of $467,900 to account 101-1103285-82020-000-000-000-11120 and $38,400 to account 210-4011100-82020-H11-000-000-00000.
