Joint resolution authorizing the execution of an agreement between the State of Illinois and Lake County for the improvements to the traffic control signals at US Route 12 at Miller Road (County Highway 2) and US Route 12 at Ela Road (County Highway 60).  This resolution appropriates $10,000 of Matching Tax funds for this improvement designated as Section 09-00999-05-TL.

•                     Miller Road at US Route 12 and Ela Road  at US Route 12, Traffic Signal Improvement: IDOT Agreement

•                     The State of Illinois proposes to improve the existing signalized intersections on US Route 12 at Miller Road and also Ela Road; both are designated county highways.

•                     This agreement provides for the sharing of costs for this improvement between the State of Illinois and Lake County.

Body

                     WHEREAS, Miller Road (County Highway 2) and Ela Road (County Highway 60) are designated routes on the county highway system; and

                     WHEREAS, the State of Illinois by and through its Department of Transportation is desirous of improving intersections of US Route 12 at Miller Road and also US Route 12 at Ela Road by modernization of the existing traffic control signals; and

                     WHEREAS, Lake County is desirous of said improvement in that it will be immediate benefit to the county and a permanent nature; and

                     WHEREAS, the State of Illinois and Lake County are desirous of entering into an agreement for the above-said improvement, a draft copy of which is attached hereto.

                     NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County Illinois that the Chair of the County Board, the County Clerk, and the County Engineer of Lake County be authorized and they are directed to execute an agreement pertaining to the financing of the above-said improvement.  The County Engineer shall transmit, in writing, the final agreement to be approved by the Chair of the County Board and the County Clerk and grant plan and specification approval to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

                     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that it is hereby appropriated $10,000 of Matching Tax funds for this improvement designated as Section 09-00999-05-TL.
