Staff Summary
· Lake County Sheriff's Office was awarded grant funding provided by the US Department of Homeland Security to improve the interoperability of public two-way radio communications throughout Lake County.
· Lake County desires to enter into contract for Voice over Internet Protocol Technology for the Lake County Sheriff's Office to achieve inter-operable communications between eighteen (18) public radio systems throughout the County.
· Lake County extended requests to twelve (12) vendors and four (4) proposals were received.
· Based on the criteria set forth in the Request for Proposals; an ad hoc evaluation committee selected Critical RF Direct as the most favorable proposal for Lake County.
· The costs will be charged as follows: 80% to account 101-3001110-84020 and
20% to account 101-1103320-84020.

WHEREAS, Lake County (through the Sheriff's Office) was awarded grant funding provided by the US Department of Homeland Security to improve the interoperability of public two-way radio communications throughout Lake County; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 5-102 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, Proposals were called for by publication for Voice over Internet Protocol Technology for the Lake County Sheriff's Office; and
WHEREAS, this technology will permit inter-operable communication among eighteen (1) public radio systems within the County; and
WHEREAS, subsequent to said publication, request for proposals were extended to twelve (12) vendors; and
WHEREAS, sealed proposals were received and opened from four (4) vendors in the County Building, Waukegan, Illinois, on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at 2:00 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the Evaluation Criteria as established in the Request for Proposal, an ad hoc evaluation committee determined that the proposal submitted by Critical RF Direct is the most favorable proposal for Lake County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Purchasing Agent is hereby directed to enter into a contract with Critical RF Direct, Coral Springs, FL in the estimated amount of $42,872 for Voice over Internet Protocol Technology for the Lake County Sheriff's Office, charging the cost thereof to account 101-3001110-84020 and 101-1103320-84020.
