• The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will be improving the intersection of Illinois Route 120 at O’Plaine Road.
• The improvement will widen the intersection to provide dual left turn lanes on Illinois Route 120, sidewalk on the east side of O’Plaine Road, and install a new traffic signal at the intersection.
• The County’s share of the project for the improvements to O’Plaine Road is estimated to be $141,623.
• This project is included in the Transportation Improvement Program with construction expected to begin in 2023 and is designated as Section 23-00999-96-TL.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, O’Plaine Road, County Highway 38, is a designated route on the County highway system; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois and Lake County believe it would be beneficial to the safety and welfare of the traveling public if the intersection of Illinois Route 120 and O’Plaine Road could be improved by widening to provide dual left turns on Illinois Route 120, installing sidewalk on the east side of O’Plaine Road, and installing a new traffic signal at the intersection; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois and Lake County are desirous of entering into an agreement for the above referenced improvement, a draft copy of which is attached hereto; and
WHEREAS, an appropriation of funds is required.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the County Board Chair, the County Clerk, and the County Engineer of Lake County are authorized, and they are hereby directed to execute an agreement, and any subsequent amendments, for the improvement at the intersection of Illinois Route 120 and O’Plaine Road, and designated as Section 23-00999-96-TL; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Engineer shall transmit, in writing, the final agreement, and any subsequent amendments, to be executed by the County Board Chair and the County Clerk, and grant plan and specification approval to IDOT; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that there is hereby appropriated $170,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation funds; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this agreement, and any subsequent amendments, when executed in their final form, be submitted to IDOT for their approval and final processing.
