Staff Summary

                     2009 Bike Path Surface Maintenance: Appropriation

                     Each year surface maintenance work is done on segments of the Lake County Division of Transportation’s Bike Path system.

                     Two bike paths are in the 2009 program:  the Washington Street Bike Path from Hainesville Road easterly to a point 430 feet west of Lakeside Drive and the Millennium Bike Path along Hawley Street (Midlothian Road to the Lakewood Forest Preserve). The work to be done is patching and seal coat. 

                     Before a project letting can be held an appropriation of $50,000 of Matching Tax funds is necessary. 

 

Body

 

                     WHEREAS, the Washington Street (County Highway 45) bike path east of Hainesville Road (County Highway 24) and the Millennium Bike Path along Hawley Street (County Highway 70) from Midlothian Road (County Highway 48) to the Lakewood Forest Preserve are bike paths under the maintenance jurisdiction of the Lake County Division of Transportation; and

 

                     WHEREAS, it would be beneficial to the preservation if the pavements could be maintained by patching, where necessary, and seal coat resurfacing; and 

 

                     WHEREAS, the above-said bike path maintenance is included in the 2009 program.

 

                     NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that there is hereby appropriated $50,000 of Matching Tax funds to provide for patching, where necessary, and seal coat resurfacing for the bike paths along Washington Street east of Hainesville Road and Millennium Bike Path along Hawley Street between Midlothian Road and the Lake Wood Forest Preserve and designated as Section 09-00000-10-RS.
