Joint resolution appropriating $50,000 of Motor Fuel Tax funds for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 repair and replacement of various guardrail and fence installations, under the applicable Illinois Highway Code.

 

Staff Summary

                     The County owns miles of guardrails and fences along the County highway system, and annual repairs and replacements must be made to various installations which are included in the Transportation Improvement Program, and designated as Section 25-00000-06-GM.

                     Before the purchase of material or a contract for services can be procured, an appropriation of $50,000 of Motor Fuel Tax funds is required.

RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, Lake County, by and through its Division of Transportation, maintains more than 300 centerline miles of designated County highways on the County highway system; and

 

WHEREAS, Lake County, by and through its Division of Transportation, needs to acquire guardrail and fence materials, or contract services, to repair various guardrail and fence installations on the County highway system in FY 2025; and

 

WHEREAS, to acquire necessary guardrail and fence materials, or contract services, an appropriation of funds is required.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that there is hereby appropriated $50,000 of Motor Fuel Tax funds, under the applicable Illinois Highway Code, for the acquisition of guardrail and fence materials, or contract services, needed to maintain various guardrail and fence installations on the County highway system in FY 2025, and designated as Section 25-00000-06-GM; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Clerk is hereby directed to transmit four certified originals of this resolution to the district office of the Department of Transportation; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this appropriation be processed by the County Engineer for final approval on behalf of the Illinois Department of Transportation in accordance with the “Agreement of Understanding” between the Illinois Department of Transportation and Lake County, dated May 3, 2018.
