RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Deerfield Road, County Highway 11, is a designated route on the county highway system; and
WHEREAS, Lake County (County) and the Tollway believe it would be beneficial to the safety and welfare of the traveling public if the Deerfield Road bridge over I-94/I-294 could be rehabilitated to extend its useful service life; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with an existing agreement, the Tollway is responsible for maintenance of the bridge structure below the bridge deck and the County is responsible for maintenance of the bridge deck and elements above the deck; and
WHEREAS, the Tollway will be the lead agency for the project; and
WHEREAS, the County will reimburse the Tollway for its respective share of the engineering and construction costs, currently estimated to be $1,545,000; and
WHEREAS, the County and Tollway are desirous of entering into an agreement stating the terms and conditions to each agency for the improvements, a draft copy attached hereto; and
WHEREAS, an appropriation of funds is required.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the County Board Chair, the County Clerk, and the County Engineer of Lake County, be authorized, and they are hereby directed to execute an agreement, and any subsequent amendments thereto, between Lake County and the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority stating the terms and conditions to each agency for the rehabilitation of the existing Deerfield Road bridge over the Tri-State Tollway; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Engineer shall transmit, in writing, the final agreement, and any subsequent amendments, to be executed by the County Board Chair and the County Clerk; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that $1,854,000 of County Option Motor Fuel Tax funds are hereby appropriated for these improvements and designated a Section 25-00034-08-BR.
