R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, the Lake County Public Works and Transportation Committee adopted an Excess Property Disposal Policy at its regular meeting on March 8, 2017; and
WHEREAS, an excess parcel of County owned property designated as Index #16 (Property Index Number 04-16-322-005) has been identified as a priority to dispose of by quitclaim deed under the transfer of excess property to government agencies section of said policy; and
WHEREAS, the excess property containing approximately 0.069 acres, more or less, is adjacent to and adjoining property owned by the Zion Park District; and
WHEREAS, by disposing of the excess parcel, which is not needed for current or future transportation improvements by the Division of Transportation, the property will be more appropriately utilized for the public under the stewardship of the Zion Park District; and
WHEREAS, the Zion Park District has agreed to accept the transfer of the property and has adopted an acceptance ordinance at its June 2017 meeting; and
WHEREAS, the Acting County Engineer and the Public Works and Transportation Committee recommend the transfer of the excess parcel to the Zion Park District; and

WHEREAS, the County will prepare a quitclaim deed to be signed by the County Board Chairman and attested by the County Clerk which will transfer the ownership to the Zion Park District at no cost; and
WHEREAS, in compliance with the Local Government Property Transfer Act (50 ILCS 605/2), the County adopts this resolution approved by a 2/3 majority of the County Board at its regular meeting on August 8, 2017, and this resolution will be effective upon adoption by the Zion Park District of the ordinance referenced above.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the County Board Chairman is hereby authorized to execute the quitclaim deed and the Acting County Engineer is hereby directed to record and cause to be recorded in the office of the Recorder of Deeds the quitclaim deed conveying said excess property to the Zion Park District and to take any and all other actions necessary to complete such conveyance.
