2009 Concrete Pavement Patching; Contract Award

                     Each year the Division of Transportation contracts for patching concrete pavements throughout the county highway system.

                     A total of 3 bids were received and the lowest responsible bidder is Maneval Construction Co., Inc., Grayslake, Illinois in the amount of $52,399.05.

                     A supplemental appropriation of $15,000 of Motor Fuel Tax funds is provided.

Body

 

 

                     WHEREAS, pursuant to authority granted by this Board of Lake County, the County Engineer heretofore called for sealed bids by publication for the concrete pavement patching, where necessary, on various county highways and designated as Section 09-00000-14-GM; and

 

                     WHEREAS, pursuant to said publication calling for said bids, sealed bids were received and opened on June 30, 2009, at 10:00 a.m., at the Lake County Division of Transportation in Libertyville, Illinois, a tabulation of said bids being as follows:

 

                     Maneval Construction Co., Inc., Grayslake, IL                                          $52,399.05

                     Meridian Construction Co., Inc., Lake Bluff, IL                                          $62,883.00

                     Alliance Contractors, Inc., Woodstock, IL                                          $84,350.00

 

                     WHEREAS, the Public Works and Transportation Committee, the County Engineer, and the Purchasing Agent have examined each bid, and it appears that the lowest responsible bidder is Maneval Construction Co., Inc., Grayslake, Illinois their bid being $52,399.05 based on estimated quantities and unit prices; and

 

                     WHEREAS, this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, by prior resolution at its meeting of May 12, 2009, appropriated $50,000 of Motor Fuel Tax funds for the improvement of the aforesaid section.

 

                     NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that a contract be awarded to said, Maneval Construction Co., Inc., Grayslake, Illinois in accordance with their bid being $52,399.05 based on estimated quantities and unit prices and that the Purchasing Agent, the County Clerk and the County Engineer of Lake County be authorized, and they are hereby directed, to enter into a contract with said low bidder for the concrete pavement patching on various county highways and designated as Section 09-00000-14-GM.

 

                     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is hereby provided a supplemental appropriation of $15,000 of Motor Fuel Tax funds designated as Section 09-00000-14-GM.

 

                     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in as much as such estimated quantities are the best approximation that can be determined at this time these quantities may be added to, deducted from or modified from in the final determination of the contract cost in accordance with Chapter 605 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes, Act 5, Section 5-205.2 without further Board action provided the final cost chargeable under the funds appropriated does not exceed the appropriations.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this award be processed by the County Engineer for final approval of the Illinois Department of Transportation in accordance with the “Agreement of Understanding” between the Illinois Department of Transportation and Lake County dated January 22, 2003.
