Staff Summary
• Section 4.1 Paid Holidays, Employee Policies and Procedures, establishes the authorized holidays granted by Lake County. There are ten fixed holidays and four floating holidays observed each year.
• According to Administrative Order No. 25-06, the Courts of the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit, Circuit Court of Lake County, will be closed on all 2026 fixed and floating holidays as well as Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 16, 2026.
• By statute, the Treasurer must maintain minimum hours and cannot change their hours without County Board approval. Treasurer Holly Kim is seeking County Board approval to close her office on the floating holiday, Lincoln’s Birthday, February 12, 2026, to accommodate business training for all employees in the Treasurer’s Office.
• This resolution reaffirms the fixed and floating holidays for 2026 and grants the Treasurer approval to be closed to the public on February 12, 2026, for employee training.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, it is necessary and appropriate that this Lake County Board establish the holiday schedule for Lake County Government employees for 2026; and
WHEREAS, the following holidays will be observed during 2026:

WHEREAS, the Treasurer has requested the closure of her office to the public on Thursday, February 12, 2026, to accommodate business-related training for all employees of the Treasurer’s Office.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that this 2026 Lake County Holiday schedule be approved and established, and that Lake County Government employees will be observing these holidays in 2026; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Board authorizes the closure of the Treasurer’s Office to the public on Lincoln’s Birthday, February 12, 2026.
