Resolution honoring Arlene Chavez as the Boys and Girls Club of Lake County 2010 Youth of the Year.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS the mission of Boys & Girls Club of Lake County is to create a cross-cultural and safe environment that promotes self esteem, teamwork and responsible community commitment for young people ages 6-18; and
WHEREAS the Boys & Girls Club of Lake County is celebrating its 10th year of providing program services in Lake County; and
WHEREAS the Boys & Girls Club of Lake County provides programs at two sites in Waukegan and two sites in North Chicago and has opened a site in Zion; and
WHEREAS the Boys & Girls Club of Lake County provides programs and services on character and leadership development, education and career development, health and life skills, sports, fitness, recreation, art, and other specialized programming; and
WHEREAS local chapters of Boys & Girls Club of America have opportunities to select or nominate club members annually for the Youth of the Year Award to highlight youth who are leaders in the club and mentors to other students; and
WHEREAS the Boys & Girls Club of Lake County’s Youth of the Year Award recognizes the nominee’s outstanding contributions to their family, school, and community, as well as recognizes the personal challenges and obstacles he or she has overcome; and
WHEREAS the selection is the highest honor a Boys & Girls Club member can receive; and
WHEREAS the Boys & Girls Club of Lake County announced the 2010 Youth of the Year is Miss Arlene Chavez of Waukegan in recognition of her dedication to mentoring fellow students and overcoming numerous real life obstacles and serving as a role model to her sister and other youth.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this Lake County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that we do hereby congratulate ARLENE CHAVEZ of Waukegan, Illinois for her personal accomplishments and commitment to becoming a responsible member of the community and recognized for personal success in spite of obstacles in everyday life.
