· The Phase II design engineering scope of work is being expanded to provide for the consultant to review shop drawings for construction.

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Arlington Heights Road, County Highway 79, is a designated route on the county highway system; and
WHEREAS, it would be beneficial for the safety and welfare of the motoring public if the bridge deck beams of the bridge carrying northbound Arlington Heights Road over Buffalo Creek could be replaced utilizing federal highway funds provided by the Illinois Department of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, this Lake County Board, at its meeting of January 12, 2010, authorized the execution of an agreement for these federal highway funds between the State of Illinois and Lake County for federal reimbursement of 80% of the Phase II design engineering services for said improvement; and
WHEREAS, this Lake County Board, at its meeting of January 12, 2010, appropriated $50,000 of County Bridge Tax funds to provide for these Phase II design engineering services; and
WHEREAS, this Lake County Board at its meeting of April 12, 2011, approved the expansion of Phase II engineering services, Amendment #1, to provide for IDOT and Lake County DOT plan review comments and for the ongoing inspection and monitoring of deteriorating bridge deck conditions; and
WHEREAS, the need for the review of shop drawings for construction has necessitated an increase of compensation for the above-said Phase II design engineering services; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois and Lake County are desirous of entering into an Amendment #2 to the agreement to utilize federal highway funds for the above-proposed supplemental Phase II design engineering services, setting forth the terms and obligations to each agency, a draft copy of which is attached hereto.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by this Lake County Board, that the County Board Chair, the County Clerk, and the County Engineer of Lake County are authorized and they are directed to execute an Amendment #2 to the agreement pertaining to the financing of the above-named improvement, a draft copy of which is attached hereto, and such authorization shall include any subsequent amendments.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the County Engineer shall transmit, in writing, the final Amendment #2 to the agreement to be executed by the County Board Chair and the County Clerk and grant plan and specification approval to the Illinois Department of Transportation. This improvement is designated as Section 05-00193-04-BR.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Amendment #2 to the agreement, when executed in its final form, be submitted to the Illinois Department of Transportation for their approval and final processing.
