Staff Summary

•                     Lake County 2040 Transportation Plan: CMAP Agreement

•                     The county’s current long-range transportation plan is for the year 2020 and a minimum 20-year time frame is needed for a transportation plan.

•                     This plan will involve the identification of deficiencies and provide recommendations of needed improvements for the year 2040.

•                     This agreement provides for the county to receive 80% reimbursement for the costs of developing this plan.

•                     The federal maximum reimbursement amount is $300,000 and the county’s match share is $75,000 (80/20 grant).

•                     By separate agreement, a consultant will be utilized to undertake the work.

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, the State of Illinois has federal funding available to the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) for carrying out highway planning throughout the metropolitan area; and

WHEREAS, Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP)  and Lake County by and through its Division of Transportation has determined a need for development of a Lake County 2040 Transportation Plan; and

WHEREAS, Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP)  and Lake County by and through its Division of Transportation are desirous of entering into an agreement to utilize federal highway funds for the development of the above-proposed Lake County 2040 Transportation Plan, a draft copy of which is attached hereto.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, that the Chair of the County Board, the County Clerk, and the County Engineer of Lake County, Illinois, be authorized and they are hereby directed to execute an agreement pertaining to the financing of the above-named engineering study. The County Engineer shall transmit in writing the final agreement to be executed by the Chair of the Lake County Board and the County Clerk.
