Staff Summary
• SMC staff needs additional consultant support to cover data management and reporting costs of additional sampling for the Lake Michigan Watershed Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) and Mercury Pollutant Sampling Program.
• Original contract value was an amount of $85,510.00 for the program. The first Amendment to the contract provided the payment to Geo-Logic Associates shall not exceed $94,430.00
• This program is being funded from an approved FY2024 New Program Request for the Lake Michigan PCB & Mercury TDML (Total Daily Maximum Load) for the County of Lake’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Permit Compliance.
• The program is to evaluate levels of in Lake County’s stormwater conveyance system, to aid in identifying whether the County contributes to pollution of surface waters in the Lake Michigan watershed and is compliant with the Waste Load Allocation (WLA) assigned to the County of Lake MS4 to meet TMDL compliance.
• SMC staff recommends approval of the contract amendment #2 with Geo-Logic Associates, Inc. for Consulting Services in the not-to-exceed amount of $107,680.50 for the current program.
