SPECIAL RECOGNITION

WHEREAS, emergencies requiring police, fire, or emergency medical services can occur at any time; and

WHEREAS, the speedy response of law enforcement officers, firefighters, and paramedics when an emergency occurs is critical to the protection of life and preservation of property; and

WHEREAS, Public Safety Telecommunicators are the first line of response in our team of critical responders. Providing 9-1-1 callers with trained and competent assistance while aiding field responders with needed, accurate information; and

WHEREAS, Public Safety Telecommunicators are a vital link for our field responders by monitoring their activities by radio, providing them information, and ensuring their safety; and

WHEREAS, Public Safety Telecommunicators serve our county from 9-1-1 and dispatch centers, contributing substantially to the apprehension of criminals, suppression of fires, and treatment of patients; and

WHEREAS, the CenCom E9-1-1 Communications Center, College of Lake County Police, Countryside Fire Protection District, Deerfield Police Department, FoxComm E9-1-1 Communications Center, Glenview Public Safety Dispatch Center, Gurnee Police Department, Illinois State Police, Lake County Sheriff's Office, Lake Forest College Public Safety, Lake Zurich Police Department, Mundelein Police Department, Navy Region MidAtlantic Regional Dispatch Center, Northwest Central Dispatch System, Regional Emergency Dispatch (RED) Center, Vernon Hills Police Department, Veterans Affairs Police Department, and Waukegan Police Department provide round-the-clock communications and dispatch service to the people of Lake County; and

WHEREAS, an estimated 240 million calls are made to 9-1-1 in the United States each year, proving what a necessary and vital service it is to all Americans.
